You will serve as a MUSEUM SPECIALIST of HAMPTON ROADS NAVAL MUSEUM.
Duties
You will serve as collections manager for the Hampton Roads Naval Museum (HRNM) with responsibility for the care and accountability of its artifacts and archival material.
You will evaluate artifacts for inclusion into the museum's collections and make recommendation for acceptance.
You will oversee the in-processing, cataloging and housing of artifacts and archival material.
You will maintain information files and databases for all permanent and loaned artifacts and organize data so that facts and ideas are readily extracted.
You will organize, document, and coordinate all aspects of borrowing and lending objects.
You will monitor climate on exhibit and in storage.
You will be responsible for HRNM's disaster management program, serving as team leader.
You will establish requirements and coordinate compliance with professional standards pertaining to storage facility construction and maintenance.
You will provide architectural historian and education services for Navy properties in Hampton Roads.
Requirements

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying museum collections management practices, including acquisition, evaluation, registration, cataloging, preserving, packing, storage, and retrieval, and shipping of artifacts; 2) Recommending and assisting in developing new and improved methods and techniques of artifacts preservation and storage; 3) Reviewing museum collection inventory records for consistency and accuracy with existing records; 4) Preparing written reports and educational programs to communicate historical naval or military information to a wide range of audiences.
