Duties
AUSAs have the opportunity to represent the interests of the United States of America in the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico. AUSAs exercise responsibility that is unparalleled in any other job that a litigator might undertake and immediately assigned criminal cases.
Employment with the USAO offers a unique and challenging experience for the highly motivated attorney and an opportunity to work on significant, and complex cases. You will be part of a dedicated team helping to enforce Federal laws that protect life, liberty, and property.
If selected for this position, the AUSA would investigate and prosecute complex federal drug, financial or related cases under the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) Program. OCDETF identifies, disrupts, and dismantles the highest-level drug traffickers, money launderers, gangs, and transnational criminal organizations that threaten the United States by using a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach that leverages the strengths of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies against criminal networks. These organizations typically engage in multiple forms of organized criminal activity in addition to drug trafficking, such as violence, corruption, human smuggling, weapons trafficking, complex financial crimes, and other illegal activities that threaten the safety and security of our nation.
