About the Position: This position is with the St Paul District, Engineering and Construction Division. The St. Paul District plans, designs, builds, and operates water resource projects to benefit the people of Minnesota, western Wisconsin, northeastern North Dakota, portions of South Dakota and Iowa, and the nation. We are responsible for supporting inland navigation, helping communities reduce damages caused by flooding, environmental restoration, and emergency response to disasters.
Duties
Serves as the District’s Subject Matter Expert for Landscape Architecture and performs the studies, investigations, and design aspects for the most complex engineering products.
Assignments involve work in a broad range of activities in the highly specialized and complex field of Landscape Architecture concerning a wide variety of projects.
The incumbent Is the District’s recognized authority in incumbent's specialized field of expertise and is assigned responsibility over Landscape Architecture activities associated with the project or subject matter.
Serves as the principal advisor to the Engineering and Construction Division Chief regarding all technical matters relating to Landscape Architecture.
Provides technical direction consistent with latest technology and Corps policy to Districts and Architect-Engineer (AE) firms.
Advises landscape architects and site layout designers engaged in complex technical interpretations as necessary on the more complex or unusual items.
When designs are performed by an Architect-Engineering Firm, finishes preliminary data and information concerning District requirements, keeps informed of progress, and advises on issues.
Personally performs major complex Landscape Architecture studies and designs.
As a subject matter expert in the field of Landscape Architecture, is assigned projects of long-term duration, of broad technical scope and major complexity, and usually involving unprecedented features.

Basic Requirement for Landscape Architect 0807 Series:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in landscape architecture or landscape design.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: For each year short of graduation, the applicant must have had one year of experience under professional leadership and guidance of such character and diversity as to be a satisfactory substitute for the required education. This experience must have included original landscape design.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
GS-13
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes meeting the following :1) Lead site design, analysis, investigations, or technical management of products such as flood risk management (floodwalls, levees, channels) navigation (locks and dams, channel dredging, revetments, and bank protection), recreation facilities, landscape planting, storm water design, and/or ecosystem restoration. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
"Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For the GS-13, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted".
Selective Placement Factor: The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess and maintain license/registration as a Professional Landscape Architect. This license/registration must be in good standing and issued by any one of the 50 states, or its territories: (Note: You are required to submit your up-to-date license Professional Landscape Architect from any state or territory with your applicant package.)

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
