You will serve as a SECURITY SPECIALIST in the2d Marine Aircraft Wing (2d MAW), of II MARINE EXPEDITIONARY FORCE.

Duties

You will perform as the Assistant Security Manager to implement and conduct a variety of both personnel and information programs to identify a complex scope of problems, questions, situations to advise, assist and/or establish new security methods. You will prepare necessary reports and investigative packets and maintains personnel security records. You will establish and administer program for continuous evaluation to ensure that everyone who has access to classified information remains eligible for a clearance. You will prepare standard operating procedures for the accountability and control of classified information and ensures control measures to safeguard and prevent loss of classified material are in place and updated as required. You will receive request for security clearances and applies appropriate agency regulations regarding the level of personal security investigation required.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final TOP SECRET (SCI) security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This is a nondeployable position during times of peace, crisis, contingency, and war.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Analyze and evaluate security regulations, procedures, methods, practices, or techniques to develop options, recommendations, or decisions; Conduct annual self-inspections, periodic surveys, and reviews to measure or minimize security susceptibilities and vulnerabilities; and develop and deliver briefs on recommendations or findings to enhance protection programs or resolve issues. Education

In lieu of specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify based on education OR equivalent combination of experience and education as follows:
  • I have successfully completed master's or equivalent graduate degree or
  • I have successfully completed 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or

  • I have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
