About the Position: This position is with Department of Defense Education Activity, Americas Southeast District, in Fort Moore, Muscogee, Georgia.

Duties

Perform a variety of school administrative functions such as student registration, student attendance, academic records maintenance, tuition status, and other related processes. Receive data and enter into the student information management database. Work in coordination with the administration to construct in the student information management system. Prepare a variety of letters, messages, memoranda, reports, charts, school bulletins, and other correspondence using typing and automated word processing equipment and other various software programs. Responsible for new student registration. Assembles and distributes to family's student registration packets including a student schedule and handbook, regulations, and other forms that might be required. Implement data collection techniques for collecting and electronically transferring student grades. Prepare reports for school administration and other personnel from the student information management system database. Disseminate to the correct personnel in a timely manner. Print from the student information management system database and mails homebound information packets and maintains electronic and hardcopy files of all school reports, generates awards for attendance, honor roll, etc.

Requirements

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
  • One year probationary period may be required.
  • Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
  • This position requires a Tier 1 (T1) investigation with Childcare Checks since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: U.S. Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-05: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: utilizing automated systems for data entry and/or data retrieval; preparing correspondence such as letters, memoranda's, and/or reports; and maintaining files. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. GS-06 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: performing school administrative functions such as student registration and/or attendance tracking; updating student files; and providing customer support to assist with staff needs. This equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-5). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For the GS-06 grade level, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
