About the Position: Serves as a Supervisory Human Resources Specialist and immediate supervisor in a Civilian Human Resource Service Center.

Duties

You will serve as a supervisor in the Anniston Army Depot Civilian Personnel Advisory Center (CPAC) leading a diverse staff of Human Resources Professionals in a fast-paced office environment. Provide advisory services on staffing actions Advise managers on the position classification process, the use of various classification references and automated tools. Perform the full scope of supervisory duties including hiring, discipline, position management, training, and performance management. Counsel subordinates, organize and oversee work. Advise management officials at all levels regarding the Civilian Human Resources recruitment process/strategies, sources, and special programs. Provide guidance on merit system principles, prohibited personnel practices, and the development and use of valid selection criteria. Assist in developing short- and long-range staffing plans to meet forecasted mission requirements, human capital losses, and changes in critical competencies. Review past recruitment practices and local labor market conditions to advise on future staffing strategies. Advise management officials at all levels regarding the Civilian Human Resources recruitment process and related programs. Advise management on a wide range of staffing issues such as workforce shaping, reduction-in-force, special placement programs, recruitment methods, and special pay incentives.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • TDY up to 10% of the time

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer ServiceManaging Human ResourcesProblem SolvingStaffing and Recruiting Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
