About the Position: This position is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the US Army NETCOM Headquarters, Fort Huachuca, AZ. Serves as an expert Senior Data Scientist leading teams for the most complex projects in the Data Science Directorate.

Duties

Serves as a Senior Data Scientist and leads teams for the most complex projects and may also serve as a team participant or an independent analyst on professional data science teams. Applies the rigors of the data science discipline to data analysis in Cyber, Information Technology and economic analyses of complex and potentially controversial major information technology systems and networks. Responsible for researching and modeling the most complex problems, discovering insights and identifying opportunities using statistical, algorithmic, mining and visualization techniques. Integrates and prepares large, varied datasets, creates specialized database and computing environments, and communicates results. Coordinates closely with data stewards, project/program managers, and other IT teams to turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound organizational decisions.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
• This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 30 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. OR B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
