Duties
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the Deputy Provost, Deans, and Department Chairs to establish a plan for achieving expected outcomes for teaching excellence. Maintain a climate that encourages and facilitates interdisciplinary engagement, participation, collegiality, and innovation. Advises senior leadership on administrative matters relating to the accomplishment, coordination, integration, and synchronization of a variety of substantive staff actions, events, and other related assignments.
Professional Development Workshops' New Faculty Orientation: Facilitate various faculty development events, including workshops and seminars throughout the academic year. Coordinate orientation programs for new faculty.
Support Faculty: Work with full-time and adjunct faculty, both in groups and individually, to foster excellence in teaching and assessment of student outcomes.
Instructional Technology Integration: Leverage technology for instructional design and enhancement. Effectively utilize the university's learning management system (e.g., Blackboard) and other educational technologies. Collaborate with faculty and staff to improve online and blended learning offerings in alignment with university strategies for instruction in both classified and unclassified environments.
Pedagogical Expertise: Stay knowledgeable of pedagogical and andragogical approaches and best practices in instruction. Assist faculty in increasing experiential learning opportunities in the classroom, revising syllabi, and engaging students.
Program Assessment and Data-Driven Improvement: Utilize data to assess and enhance the effectiveness of teaching initiatives and faculty development programs. Assess faculty needs to design programs that meet identified instructional needs.
Learning Spaces Design: Work with university stakeholders to envision and create learning spaces that support innovative teaching practices.
Centralized Digital Repository: Establish a centralized digital repository of teaching resources and oversee the distribution of these resources to support faculty development.
Research Promotion: Promote research on effective teaching and learning practices, as well as the art of teaching. Work with faculty on initiatives focused on researching and reporting on emerging teaching and learning methods and innovative practices for adult learners.
Project Management: Manage large-scale projects, present to leadership and academic departments, and support other administrative activities as needed.
Qualifications
Mandatory Requirements:
Master's degree in instructional design, educational technology, higher education leadership, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in higher education at the graduate level, including experience in developing courses and programs.
Demonstrated experience in course and program-level assessment.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member, and proactively manage competing priorities under strict deadlines.
At least 3 years of experience providing faculty development and support for academic technologies to higher education faculty and staff.
Experience as an instructor of record or other primary faculty role in higher education courses.
Experience working with faculty across a variety of disciplines and ranks.
Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
At least 3 years of experience leading teams that support faculty with course design, development, and technology integration in teaching and learning.
Certification in Quality Matters.
Desired Requirements:
Earned Ph.D., Ed.D., or terminal degree.
Prior experience working in/with a Center for Teaching and Learning on a college campus.
Record of teaching excellence at the college level.
Prior experience leading faculty development that contributed to measured, enhanced student success, particularly among adult-learners.
Expertise in educational technology.
