Duties
Serving as a Student Trainee (Human Resources) GS-0299-3/4 makes you a valuable member of the FLETC team and mission.
The Student Trainee (Human Resources) position participates in the Pathways Internship Program consisting of planned on-the-job training and academic study at a cooperating academic institution. This position is located in the Human Capital office (HCO), Mission and Readiness Support Directorate (MRSD), Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) in Glynco, Georgia.
In this position, you will serve as a student trainee responsible for participating in a structured training plan which includes orientation on mission, functions, organizations and program relationships, training on the principles, methods, procedures and regulations applicable to the occupation, and training/rotational assignments among the various HCO branches, where feasible, to obtain an overview of the various missions and operations and their interrelationships in the human resources lifecycle. Typical duties include:
Applying a standard body of rules, procedures and operations sufficient to perform interrelated and standard support work. Planning, coordinating, developing facts, and resolving support problems and using online resources to obtain information over the internet, as needed.
Using various computer software programs, tools and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases and graphs.
Assisting in presenting information to new employees.
Interpreting and applying rules, regulations and procedures.
Planning and organizing work to meet deadlines.
Communicating effectively, both orally and written.

You qualify at the GS-03 grade level if you possess the following:
Successful completion of 1-full academic year of post-high school study. You must provide a copy of your transcripts.
You qualify at the GS-04 grade level if you possess the following:
Successful completion of 2-full academic years of post-high school study from an accredited college or university. You must provide a copy of your transcripts.
IF YOU ARE IN YOUR LAST SEMESTER/QUARTER of completing your degree/certificate requirements, you must show proof of acceptance to a continuing degree/certificate program. This may be documented by an acceptance letter for future enrollment in a degree/certificate program.

Education
The Pathways Intern will receive formal periodic assessments of progress and sign a Pathways Participant Agreement.
Eligibility for conversion does not guarantee that FLETC will offer conversion.
You may be considered for conversion to a term or permanent appointment within 180 days of completion of degree requirements provided you:
- Successfully complete an academic course of study with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale, and
- Complete a minimum of 640 hours of work experience before completing your degree, and
- Meet the qualification requirements for the position to which you are converted, and
- Received a favorable recommendation for appointment by an official of the agency or agencies in which the Intern served; and
- Meet agency-specific requirements as specified in the agency's Participant Agreement with the Intern
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications; applicant's resumes and supporting documentation should only reflect education received from schools accredited by such institutions.
