About the Position: Serves as a General Supply Specialist performing a variety of supply functions for the 842nd U.S. Army Transportation Surface Battalion in beautiful Beaumont, Texas, just a 45 minute drive from the beautiful Gulf of Mexico beaches.

Duties

Administer and provide a variety of supply management type functions. Maintain a library of required supply regulations, catalogs, publications to include all organization Table of Distribution and Allowances documents. Execute supply activities involving maintenance of property book records, initiating and preparing requests, and ensuring that supply and inspection documents are properly prepared for turn-ins. Attend meetings dealing with the management and operation of property book activities. Incumbent maintains a Government Purchase Card (GPC) and purchases office supplies for the Battalion unless he/she is Property Book Officer (PBO).

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • Term employment is subject to a one year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Applying supply principles, concepts and/or methodologies to perform property book accountability of supplies and/or equipment; 2) Researching and resolving supply and hand receipt issues; 3) Utilizing programs such as the Government Purchase Card program, the Global Combat Supply System Army, or similar systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or other related fields of study. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
