About the Position: This Inspector position serves as a member of an investigation, inquiry or assistance team at HQ, US Army Materiel Command, AMC Inspector General, Redstone Arsenal, AL.
Duties
Performs long-range planning and analysis for IG inspections.
Assists in planning the inspection scope and concept and in developing the methodology or approach to be used unique for the specific issue.
Develops time-phased costs of inspections and specific sub-issue areas appropriate for inclusion.Develops time-phased costs of inspections and specific sub-issue areas appropriate for inclusion.
Participates as a team member performing on-site systemic and follow-up inspections of issues at major subordinate commands, depots, arsenals, proving grounds and other activities within the Command, both CONUS and OCONUS.
May be required to provide exit or entrance briefings at inspection sites.
Makes recommendations regarding the completeness and validity of reports.
Coordinates final reports with concerned AMC leadership, MSC Commanders, HQ AMC Deputy Chiefs of Staff and Separate Office Chiefs and assists to assure their staffs complete work prior to submission of reports to AMC Commander.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 50% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing compliance and systemic inspections, which includes planning and executing all 17 phases of the IG inspections process. Can effectively perform root cause analysis to evaluate and assess perceived problems, make concise findings based on factual discovery and regulatory guidance, and propose attainable recommendations that resolve inspection findings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
