The primary purpose of this position as an Air Reserve Technician (ART), is being responsible for staff guidance, and management of operational and training programs for assigned units. Additionally, provide evaluation and training to reservists in the accomplishment of tasks set forth herein.
Duties
Provide and advocacy of enlisted aircrew activities of subordinate flying units to include unit aircrew flight currency and ground training programs.
Review Gaining Major Command/Headquarters Air Force Reserve Center (MAJCOM/HQ AFRC) messages, Flight Crew Information File (FCIF) messages and provides input for coordination accordingly.
Provide the assigned Numbered Air Force (NAF) senior leadership with information regarding aircrew Operational Reports.
Assist in identifying retention trends for enlisted operations personnel and in addressing solutions to retention problems and issues.
Provide coordination on aircrew waivers relating to special mission sorties, specific home station training programs, and deployments with special mission capabilities of subordinate units.

- Position may or will require incumbent to Fly in military and/or commercial aircraft in the performance of temporary duty (TDY) assignments
- Required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties: however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities
- Position may require a background security investigation to determine suitability for employment and/or a security clearance
- Males must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal and Regulatory Guide
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a top secret security clearance
- Work accomplished on the aircraft may be rigorous and normally includes heavy lifting, pushing, and bending. In-flight duties require mobility throughout the aircraft during tactical flight.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Group Standard for Administrative & Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level (or other equivalent pay systems) in federal service which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position being filled. Specialized experience is experience which includes assisting in the operation and training programs for assigned combat forces, development of status reports, and providing evaluation and training to reservists in the accomplishment of tasks in support of their mission.

EDUCATION: Three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, OR LL.M in photography, radio or television production, motion picture production, or other fields related to the position. COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position if the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100 percent. To combine education and experience, determine the total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level. Then determine the education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level. Finally, add the two percentages. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of operating principles and characteristics of major aircraft systems and their controls, panels, and indicators, systems, and equipment in accomplishing functions in aerial refueling, loading and off-loading, or flight engineering operations.
2. Knowledge of aircraft capacity and limitations, weight and balance factors to provide the optimum center of gravity throughout the flight and procedures for preparing cargo for loading, unloading, and aerial delivery missions.
3. Knowledge of the interrelationships among aircraft systems and skill in diagnosing problems and reporting detailed symptoms and conditions in terms of flight safety.
4. Skill in analyzing operating conditions, diagnosing problems, determining alternate procedures and or initiating corrective actions.
5. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, to coordinate and accomplish assigned tasks, prepare documents, reports, evaluations, and present training/instruction, and brief passengers and crews.
6. Ability to use a personal computer and software to use email, prepare documents, reports, and evaluations, and accomplish staff duties.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
HAZARD INVOLVED: The incumbent is exposed to the hazards associated with aircraft flight. The degree of hazard involved is directly related to the requirements of the mission. Hazard is enhanced when performing night engines running on/offload exercises that preclude use of radio communications and exterior lighting. There is exposure to the extreme hazard of operating and working around aircraft doors in flight. There are extreme hazards induced from operating aircraft in an actual or simulated tactical environment, which may include but are not limited to, combat aircrew training sorties, aggressive maneuvers, low level flight, formation flight, aerial refueling, airdrop, maximum effort takeoffs and landings, and un-pressurized operations at high altitude. For the loadmaster specialty, during engine running on-loads and off-loads work outside the aircraft is often on unimproved runways and in adverse environmental conditions. There is exposure to dangers posed by the engines and high velocity exhaust. During engine running crew changes there are hazards outside the aircraft on unlit taxiways and in adverse environmental conditions. Aircraft flight hazards may include exposure to extreme temperatures and gravitational forces, confined or cramped spaces, high altitudes, etc. Frequently uses Night Vision Goggles (NVG) while performing aircrew duties.
