About the Position: The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City. The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America. West Point is a self-contained city with housing, a Department of Public Works, libraries, hospital, fire department, chapels, and restaurants. Employees have access to Eisenhower Hall Theater, Hudson Valley's performing arts center, and recreational facilities.
Duties
Serve as the Deputy Director for Outreach in the Office of Research.
Work with the Associate Dean for Research (ADR) and Vice Deans to execute research outreach, event planning, and marketing objectives.
You will serve as member of the Dean’s engagement planning team.
Represent West Point at academic and professional conferences and research specific events.
You will work with the Associate Dean for communications to formulate, coordinate and advise the communications and marketing activities promoting innovations and outcomes of the entire USMA Research Enterprise.
Liaise with USMA external Liaison Officers (LNO) key research areas at United States Military Academy (USMA) in order to identify and engage with potential interested partners and inform Academy leadership on key partner engagement strategies.
Engage with the external partner liaisons and USMA research center directors to ensure synchronization across research engagements.
Plan and oversee execution of research conference and symposium events at USMA and offsite.
You will strategize, design, and create basic graphics such as flyers, slides, and social media posts.
Provide host support for distinguished visitors to USMA in support of the USMA research program and the mission.
Teach and conduct research in own area of expertise as able.
Requirements

- Appointment to this position may be subject to a one-year trial period.

This is a full-time term appointment in the excepted service not to exceed 13 Months.Term appointments may be extended beyond the initial term. As a term employee you will be eligible for medical insurance, life insurance, retirement dental and vision. You will be eligible to earn annual leave and sick leave.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must (a) hold a bachelor's degree or higher that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, OR (b) possess a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above.

1. Academic Accomplishment (Master's or Ph.D. preferred);
2. Demonstrated ability to conduct research event planning and coordination across large organizations;
3. Ability to provide experience in research collaboration with U.S. Government agencies, academic institutions, and/or private sector entities;
4. Demonstrated ability in basic graphic design and social media skills;
5. Ability to provide direction and guidance to subordinates and peers;
