This position is located in Service Center Operations Directorate, California Service Center. As an Audio Visual Production Specialist, you will provide a comprehensive range of audiovisual support duties such as planning and executing of meetings, conferences, ceremonies, and other productions.

Duties

The responsibilities described are for the full performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope performed with less independence, and limited complexity. Set up and operate audiovisual systems, cameras, recorders, video switchers, video teleconferencing, live video streaming, and other necessary equipment; clean, maintain, test, trouble shoot, and perform minor repairs on audiovisual cables, etc. Actively communicate with customers with different technical backgrounds to collect and fulfill their audiovisual requirements. Assist in data collection required for audiovisual reports. Serve as “producer” in the production of multi-media campaigns and video and audio programs by conducting research, developing scripts, scheduling production activity, coordinating shoots and assuring an overall production schedule is maintained. Assume office responsibility including writer, sound engineer, lighting director, technical director and gaffer/grip. Develop briefings, brochures, multimedia presentations, web pages, promotional products, technical illustrations, and computer artwork for use in products, technical manuals, literature, newsletters and slide shows.

The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 09/03/2024. Basic Requirements: All applicants must meet the following basic requirements: (Must be supported in Transcripts from an accredited institution, Resume and/or Applicable Certificate) Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- photography, radio or television production, motion picture production, or other fields related to the position. Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of these fields is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis. OR Possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience in the actual type of work for which application is made. Unpaid experience is creditable, provided the work done was of a quality level and demonstrated the ability required for the position. This includes work directly connected with the production aspects of the field(s) of the position to be filled. GS-09: You qualify at the GS-09 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Developing briefings, brochures, multimedia presentations, web pages, promotional products, technical illustrations, or computer artwork for use in productions, technical manuals, literature newsletters or slide shows; Participating in the design and production of multimedia campaigns; Assisting with activities and events by preparing, planning, and executing the steps necessary for relevant audiovisual productions. Serving as primary point of contact for planning, setup, operations and troubleshooting of audiovisual equipment. OR You may substitute a Master's degree or two (2) full years of graduate education leading to such a degree in any field, or a J.D. or L.L.B. degree for experience required at the GS-09 grade level. Such education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise two years of graduate education. If that information is not available, use 36 semester or 54 quarter hours. GS-11: You qualify at the GS-11 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Developing briefings, brochures, multimedia presentations, web pages, promotional products, technical illustrations, or computer artwork for use in productions, technical manuals, literature newsletters or slide shows; reviewing and providing feedback on multimedia products; Leading in the design and production of multimedia campaigns; Leading activities and events by preparing, planning, and executing the steps necessary for relevant audiovisual productions; Leading and coordinating with internal and external specialists on planning, setup, operations and troubleshooting of audiovisual equipment. OR You may substitute a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent degree) or three (3) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in any field, or L.L.M. if related for experience at the GS-11 grade level or such education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise three years of graduate study. If that information is not available, use 54 semester or 81 quarter hours. GS-12: You qualify at the GS-12 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Developing briefings, brochures, multimedia presentations, web pages, promotional products, technical illustrations, or computer artwork for use in productions, technical manuals, literature newsletters or slide shows; Leading the completion of multimedia products and consulting in the design and production of multimedia campaigns; Leading and consulting on activities and events by preparing, planning, and executing the steps necessary for relevant audiovisual productions; Forecasting and procuring resources for audiovisual equipment and productions; Developing standards for routine products and publications and maintaining data and updates with clear knowledge management and records retention policies.
