This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA FUTURE TESTBED OPERATIONS BRANCH.

Duties

Serves as a senior engineer performing technical consultation and/or program coordination for the organization. Engineering, planning, designing, and reviewing designs of information systems. Develop and design theoretical treatments, equipment, and procedures for testing and solving problems. Conduct tests and evaluations of information systems. Coordinates technical planning in installation activities. The incumbent works independently and/or with team or project leaders to plan, direct, and execute work assignments. Coordinate with others as necessary to resolve problems as they occur. Performs a broad range of assignments relating to the engineering of information systems, architectures, and other division requirements.

  • This position is in the Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is being recruited under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. Basic Requirements: For the GG-854 and GG-855 Professional Engineering Series: Degree: professional engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. OR Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: Professional registration Written Test Specified academic courses Related curriculum - With these criteria, applicants also need verification of employment from a supervisor stating you have performed professional engineering duties. For the GG-1550 Computer Science Series: Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-14, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. To be considered for this position, your resume must reflect four or more qualifying experiences listed below: - Experience in leading the development, delivery or integration of digital products or services. - Experience crafting or creating product vision, strategy, or road maps. - Experience analyzing alternative approaches and advising management concerning major aspects of IT system design. - Experience with agile or iterative development methodologies. - Experience supporting planning, budgeting, management, and direction of programs or projects. - Experience building alignment with stakeholders. - Experience assessing the robustness of IT systems and designs, weighing operational impacts of cybersecurity lapses. - Experience aligning mission strategic vision to organization objectives. Education

To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. You must report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions that are recognized by the U.S. Department of Education .
