This is a National Guard Title 5 Excepted position for a T5 INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE TECHNICIAN, Position Description NumberPDT5429000, and is part of the SC MED COMMAND, South Carolina Army National Guard.

Duties

***This is a Title 5 National Guard Employee position description.*** This position is located in the Office of the State Surgeon, Deputy State Surgeon, Occupational Health Office, Joint Force Headquarters-State. The purpose of the work is to plan, schedule, execute, manage and administer the ARNG Industrial Hygiene Program for a state, territory, or district to maintain and promote the health of military and technician personnel. Coordinates with the National Guard Bureau (NGB) Regional Industrial Hygienist (IH) who works for the NGB Office of the Chief Surgeon. Health aids and technicians perform sub professional medical duties such as the administration of medications, rendering emergency treatment, performing medical tests and examinations, etc. The duties vary with the type of assignment and grade of the position.

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION OPEN TO THE FOLLOWING AREA OF CONSIDERATION (AOC): Area of Consideration: This position is open to Area 1 Only. Area 1: Current employees (Tenure 1 and 2 / internal to the Agency) Area 2: All other applicants (external to the Agency) *Temporary and Indefinite employees do not meet permanent tenure requirements and are not eligible for Area 1. GENERAL EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Experience, education, or training which provided a basic knowledge of principles and practices related to the health care delivery system. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: - Must have at least 24 months experience, education, or training which provided a working knowledge of missions, organizations, programs and requirements of health care delivery systems. Experience developing and implementing various policies and procedures used in the state medical programs. Experience involving various administrative areas such as budget, personnel and public relations within a medical activity. For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: 1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. 2. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. 3. Education

Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience - Completion of a 4-year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with courses related to the occupation for GS-5 positions. Graduate education or an internship meets the specialized experience required above GS-5 only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position. One full year of graduate education meets the requirements for GS-7. Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree meets the requirements for GS-9. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended.
