This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

The HUD-VASH program, a partnership between the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
and the Depart of Veterans Affairs, is an clinical case management program for chronically homeless Veterans
aimed at providing psychosocial services to Veterans who acquire permanent housing through HUD's Section 8
voucher system.
The incumbent will assist the supervisory team in day to day operations of the housing process of the HUDVASH
program, working with a multi-disciplinary team to assist it in working with Veterans to secure and
maintain permanent housing. The incumbent will act as a team leader for their assigned multi-disciplinary team
and will perform duties to assist the team in its functioning. This work includes the collection and data
distribution of all aspects of the housing process at SFVAHCS, including but not limited to voucher utilization
and project based building census. The incumber will report requested data to SFVAHCS, VISN, and VACO
leadership. The incumbent may also be the clinical case manager for a reduced caseload of Veterans admitted
into the HUD-VASH program, working with a multi-disciplinary team to assist the Veteran to secure and
maintain permanent housing. The incumbent, as a GS12 Social Worker, must be able to provide supervision;
this is not necessarily part of the assigned duties but could be as needed by agency need and/or incumbent
interest.
The program coordinator may be the sole practitioner in this specialty at the facility and typically provide direct patient care services in the program area. The program coordinator oversees the daily operation of the program, develop policies and procedures for program operation, and prepare reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use. They may be responsible for the program's budget, developing and monitoring staff compliance with practice, standards and guidelines on documentation, workload, data entry, ethical practice and service delivery. The program coordinator provides analysis and evaluation of clinical program data and computerized programs to identify system-wide trends and needs to enhance the quality of service. They may be responsible for, or contribute to, the program's resource and fiscal management, monitoring control points developing the annual budget, operating within that budget, and accounting for appropriated funds. The program coordinator is administratively responsible for the clinical programming and prepares reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use. They provide leadership, direction, orientation, coaching, in-service training, staff development, and continuing education programs for assigned staff. They initiate and conduct a variety of program or service audits and complete designated clinical practice audits and reports, including productivity assessments. They oversee program operations and evaluations, identifying areas for improvement, gathering relevant data, assessing the data, developing and implementing ideas for improvement and evaluating efficacy of improvement efforts.
Treatment Planning/Goal Setting: The incumbent possesses knowledge of medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities and treatment procedures (i.e. acute, chronic and traumatic injuries/illnesses, common medications and side effects, and medical terminology) to formulate a treatment plan.
Counseling / Therapeutic Interventions The social worker is skilled in a range of specialized interventions and treatment modalities used in specialty treatment programs or with this specialized population who are experiencing a variety of psychiatric, medical, and social problems to achieve treatment goals. including individual, group and or family counseling or psychotherapy and advanced level psychosocial and or case management.

Qualifications
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
United States Citizenship. Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Licensure. Must hold a full, current, unrestricted licensure as a Social Worker in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Education. Posses a Master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
GRADE DETERMINATIONS:In addition to meeting the above basic requirements, applicants must possess the below grade requirements to be found qualified for this position.
Education. One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level.
AND,
Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as social worker program coordinator must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs). In addition to the above grade requirements, applicants must clearly demonstrate the following KSAs:
Knowledge of program coordination and administration which includes consultation, negotiation, and monitoring.
Knowledge and ability to write policies, procedures, and/or practice guidelines for the program.
Ability to supervise multidisciplinary staff assigned to the program.
Skill in organizing work, setting priorities, meeting multiple deadlines, and evaluating assigned program area(s).
Ability to provide training, orientation, and guidance within clinical practice.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Work is typically performed at the Providence VA Medical Center campus but may be performed in a setting away from the medical center where the environment cannot be controlled, such as meetings/conferences, CBOCs, and at other community agencies. The incumbent must be flexible since to meet program requirements it may be necessary to work irregular tours of duty and to travel, including overnight details as necessary.A variety of interactions with internal and external customers to include but not limited to walking, sitting, standing, and bending. Work may include carrying of light items such as papers, and books. Work may be stressful at times and require conflict resolution capacity related to mental and emotional demands.When in the office, the work is mostly sedentary. Some work (specifically classroom teaching) requires walking, standing and the set-up of media equipment. The work generally does not require any special physical effort.
