About the Position: Serves as Maintenance Control Technician at three (4) major multipurpose water resource projects that may include power generation, flood control, visitor centers, natural resources and recreation features, or other appurtenant elements at several locations. Maintains, controls and administers a comprehensive computerized maintenance management system, such as Facilities Equipment Maintenance System (FEM), or other computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Duties

Analyze maintenance history for facilities and equipment. Establish maintenance schedules for facilities and equipment. Develop and/or update equipment profiles. Record maintenance and repair history. Prepare or assist in preparing an annual and/or periodic program reports. Attend project maintenance meetings and relay pertinent information. Serve as the primary Facilities and Equipment Maintenance System (FEM) operator. Provide access and permissions for employees in the (FEM). Troubleshoot FEM systems problems and issues. Serve as Government Purchase Card Holder.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Travel is required 25% or more of the time due to the dispersed nature of the project.
  • May be selected at any grade level with non-competitive promotion potential to target grade. Non-competitive promotion potential to the target grade based on time-in-grade requirements and demonstrated ability to perform the higher graded duties.

GS-6 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing an automated computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), such as FEM/Maximo in order to provide current and future maintenance operations system control regarding repair history of electrical and mechanical operating equipment, recurring problems, and backlog for navigation locks. Perform data entry related to updating maintenance schedules and updating equipment profiles to include: maintenance history and schedule, repair records, and replacement parts. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration or Business Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. GS-7 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing an automated computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), MAXIMO, FEM, or other CMMS system to build maintenance schedules and track repair work orders capturing detailed information concerning labor and other costs/ expenses. Perform data entry related to maintenance and replacement of equipment and generate reports from system data. Maintain efficient paper and electronic file management and have experience with purchasing such as: reconciling billings and utilizing an automated financial management system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration or Business Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
