About the Position: This position serves as a Exercise Coordinator within the Mission Command Training Program (MCTP), Fort Leavenworth, KS.
Eligible for situational telework ONLY, including emergency and OPM prescribed "unscheduled telework".
Duties
Develop exercise support plan and ensure exercise requirements are completed on time.
Train and coordinate exercise support to include subject matter experts (SMEs) and scenario role players.
Analyze support requirements in relation to unit training objectives to ensure unit training needs are met.
Review, interpret, and implement directives and training objectives from higher headquarters in exercising the training plan.
Support the planning, coordination, and preparation of exercises in cooperation with other Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) Operations Groups (OPSGRPs).
Serve as an Action Agent on all exercises that include OPSGRP government personnel and/or contractor personnel.
Attend exercise design conferences and Master Scenario Event List (MSEL) conferences.
Remain current on joint command post training exercises (JTXs) and war-gaming simulation systems developed to support training exercises.
Execute exercise support that facilitates training objectives.
Maintain information relevant to National Security Strategy and Global Force Management Implementation Guidance.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- SECRET CLEARANCE: This position may require the incumbent to be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Temporary Duty Travel: Position requires extensive travel worldwide, in excess of 150 days, in support of programs and exercises. There is a known requirement of Temporary Duty (TDY) travel of 45%.
- U.S. Passport: Incumbent must be able to obtain a passport.
- Deploy Worldwide: Incumbent must meet and sustain requirements to deploy worldwide to hazardous duty areas.
- Overtime: Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Presenting information briefings on military exercises; 2) providing input for joint exercises and/or deployment training; and 3) analyzing exercise requirements and unit training objectives to ensure unit training needs are met. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. (Note: You must provide a copy of your transcripts at the time of application.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
NOTE: Applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade and specialized experience requirements within thirty (30) days after the closing date of the announcement.
