About the Position: Serves as an IT specialist with responsibility for developing IT system requirements, procurement actions, and life cycle management plans to the Chief, Information Management Division for Fort Meade.

Duties
Evaluate the potential for improving services or increasing economy in meeting user requirements.
Perform varied research and periodical searches to identify current trends in information systems, hardware, software, and training.
Develop user requirements for IT equipment/software.
Analyze information consisting of customer's equipment systems requirements, depot infrastructure and higher headquarters regulations and policies.
Determine sources for technical services through market survey and analysis.
Assist with installing PC hardware and software problems and analyze problems and determines corrective measures.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 3 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- A valid Motor vehicle driver's license. This position will require the incumbent to operate motor vehicles.
- Incumbent is required to obtain IA Certification Level 1 and SA Level 2 within six months of employment.
- This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
- Immunization screening may be required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes installing, troubleshooting, correcting, and maintaining Local Area Network (LAN) system and related components; assisting users with personal computers (PC) and software issues; and performing backup and recovery procedures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Systems and Network Administration.
