You will serve as the Glenn Research Center Mishap Investigation Manager, initiating, classifying, and coordinating mishap investigations per Agency Mishap Policy requirements. As the a Mishap and Human Factors lead, you will provide required reporting, and lead interim response efforts. You will work with various organization and support efforts to implement a safety program, analyze incidents, determine root cause, and support efforts to prevent recurrence.
Duties
Conducts investigations of the Glenn Research Center’s (GRC) mishaps and close-calls, coordinating the tracking and closure of the associated Corrective Action Plans (CAPs).
Delivers required mishap investigation materials, status reports and indicators to support GRC management/governance boards, providing deliverables including the yearly OSHA Report and occurrences of mishap events to Center and Agency officials.
Advises on the analysis of mishap and hazards data, making recommendations to management.
Serves as member of the agency Mishap Program and Human Factors Agency working groups, performing audits as required.
Manages GRC’s Interim Response Team (IRT) Capability and serves as IRT lead to maintain a cadre of trained and ready IRT members and IRT capability.
Coordinates mishap support for the planning and execution of the Center’s Emergency Exercises for GRC and its Divisions.
Maintains the Directorate’s input to the Center’s Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) and Mishap Preparedness and Contingency Plan (MPCP), coordinating with stakeholders.
Manages, administers, or operates safety and occupational health programs to include the development, implementation, and evaluation of related program functions.

Qualifications
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level:
Performing mishap investigations and preparing status reports;
Conducting safety operations such as hazards analysis, field surveys, mishap inspections, or safety compliance; and
Performing root cause/safety data analysis or trending of hazards, safety incidents, or injuries as part of a safety and occupational health program.
