About the Position: Moncrief Army Health Clinic is located on Fort Jackson, South Carolina and is part of the 82 square mile military installation located adjacent to the state capital of Columbia. Duties
Perform receptionist, recordkeeping and miscellaneous clerical duties within the ambulatory setting.
Enter, manipulate and/or retrieve information and data from automated systems.
Complete request forms, manually or automated, for individual patient orders, blood work and other requests.
Maintain and monitor patient appointment schedules for the clinic/practice.
Receive patients and visitors as the initial point of contact, in person or telephonically.
Obtain identifying information and determines the nature of the visit/call.
Provide information regarding the practice, clinic, and hospital policies, procedures, and locations to patients, family members, staff, etc.
Maintain all patients' records, both electronic and paper, according to regulation.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires a qualified typist (minimum 40 words per minute)
- This position is required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
- Required to be screened for and obtain necessary immunizations/vaccinations (hepatitis, influenza, etc.), unless exempted by a licensed physician.

- This position has a TDY or business travel requirement of 5% of the time to various locations. This may require travel on military aircraft, ships, and vehicles.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Performing clerical or receptionist duties such as record keeping, answering calls, receiving patients, scheduling medical appointments; providing information to patients, medical staff, or the public; maintaining electronic and paper patient records, and using a computer and office automation software or programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
