This Physical Therapist position is located at the Pawnee Indian Health Center in Pawnee, Oklahoma. The Pawnee Indian Health Center is a robust ambulatory care center with approximately 40,000 outpatient visits per year to an active patient population of about 16,000 beneficiaries. Incumbent will provide physical therapy patient services to individuals eligible for services provided by the Indian Health Service in clinics and reports to the Clinical Director.

Duties

Provides direct supervision and guidance to the Physical Therapy department staff. Oversees programming, actual PT activities and therapy interventions for outpatient rehabilitation at the Pawnee Indian Health Center. Provides direct patient care and evaluates patients using standardized tests, customized measurement protocols, and clinical observations. Conducts therapeutic activities for the various physical and medical problems encountered in order to directly appeal to and meet the treatment needs of patients. Evaluates and develops treatment plans based on subjective and objective data for patients referred by the medical clinic providers and purchased/referred care providers. Maintains current documentation of patient evaluation and progress notes on assigned patients. Develops patient, family, and caregiver educational materials as indicated.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education A graduate or higher level degree that included: A physical therapy curriculum approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs(external link) (CAAHEP) or a professional accrediting organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained; and Completion of the clinical requirements prescribed by the school. Note: Employees currently assigned to positions in this occupational series as of September 2017 will be considered to have met the basic requirements for the position occupied. Licensure For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physical Therapist from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and must have passed the National Physical Therapy Examination administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy(external link) (FSBPT). In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector. Examples include conducting patient evaluations for physical therapy; exercising modalities appropriate to carrying out the patient plan of care; experience in outpatient orthopedic specialty; providing quality care by assessing, interpreting, and evaluating test results; determining physical therapy treatment plans and administering physical therapy treatments; instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs; and conducting in-service training with Physical Therapy staff. OR Completion of three (3) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. Education must be directly related to position being filled. OR Applicants who have completed an approved graduate level curriculum and who subsequently completed additional graduate training in a specialized field of clinical practice designed to assure professional competence to practice in the specialty meet the requirements for GS-11. OR Combination of education and specialized experience that when combined, fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. Education must be directly related to position being filled. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
