About the Position: Competition for Security Guard positions is restricted by law to persons entitled to Veterans preference so long as such applicants are available for appointment. Duties

Serve as a Guard Supervisor for the Security Guard force e assigned under the authority of the Senior Commander. Supervise training in the use of weapons, protection against espionage, sabotage and other organized subversive actions. Assign work in terms of organizational objectives and special assignments, set priorities, and deadlines. Develop training courses based on regulatory requirements. Perform managerial and administrative duties relating to the security guard force. Develop manning and budget requirements for Guard operations. Ensure the maintenance of stringent physical security standards. Responsible for overseeing the protection of government and personal property; control of access of personnel and vehicles to the installation; support of the implementation of emergency plans; and patrolling of restricted and limited access areas.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
• This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
• The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
• This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
• This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
• Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
• This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training
• This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.
• Incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals.
• Incumbent must successfully complete security guard training in accordance with AR 190-56.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
• A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
