OIG is organized into seven operational units: the Immediate Office of the Inspector General, Office of the Counselor, Office of Audits and Evaluations, Office of Healthcare Inspections, Office of Investigations, Office of Management and Administration, and Office of Special Reviews. In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, OIG has offices located in more than 60 locations throughout the country.
Duties
As an Information Technology Specialist, you will:
- Determine how best to create tables and relationships to provide system integrity and reliable data, and determines proper screen design and provides viable alternatives.
- Develop, implement, maintain, and update the Case Management information system's applications and programs.
- Maintain liaison with Office of Inspector General elements as agency technical expert to plan and develop recommendations for assigned project activities for more effective use of automated information.
- Recommend hardware and software to provide functionality required as the system changes and grows.
- Serve as the Office of Inspector General's technical expert on all projects involving the use of SQL Server database design and implementation.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS14, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS13 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of this experience may include the following:
- Resolving data management and data analysis problems for modeling, data mining, or research purposes; OR
- Analyzing and defining customer requirements and specifications on computer applications, software, or specialized utility programs; OR
- Evaluating and providing recommendations on the adoption of new technologies and architectures for the design and implementation of inspection data collection, data warehousing, and related data analysis and storage and retrieval systems; OR
- Serving as an authority on Platform as a Service (PaaS).
In addition to meeting specialized experience, applicants must also show proficiency in 1) attention to detail, 2) customer service, 3) oral communication, and 4) problem solving.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-14, you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a nontemporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
