The United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida's (USAO-SDFL) mission is to enforce and defend the laws of the United States of America through the prosecution of criminal cases brought by the Federal government; the prosecution and defense of civil cases in which the United States is a party; and the collection of debts owed to the Federal government that are administratively uncollectible.
Duties
If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Human Resources Assistant (OA) support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of Florida, located in Miami, Florida, focusing in the areas of Federal human resources regulations, principles, policies, rules, and terminology.
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Typical work assignments will include:
Assists HR specialists in the classification of selected positions by gathering background information including data on the structure and function of the organization, i.e., organizational chart, and reviewing existing and related position descriptions to identify additional identical positions.
Reviews personnel actions to determine the nature of the staffing and placement request.
Verifies validity of position data, and appropriateness of request in terms of relevant merit promotion regulations.
Provides merit promotion services for selected lower graded clerical positions.
Participates in preparing announcements by modifying or updating standardized portions of previous announcements.
Requirements

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying:
To qualify at the GS-05 level, you must possess:
Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level in the Federal service performing (obtained in either the public or private sectors) 2 of the 3 duties listed below:
Responding to routine inquiries;
Entering data into one or more computer systems;
Maintaining Human Resources (HR) administrative files or records..
-OR-
Have successfully completed four academic years of education above the high school level. (e.g. Bachelor's degree)
-OR-
Have less than the full amount of specialized experience described in A or post-high school education described in B, but I have a combination of specialized experience and post-high school education which fully meets the qualification requirement of the position.
(Please note: Only education more than the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. To qualify at the GS-06 level, you must possess:
Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service performing (obtained in either the public or private sectors) 2 of the 3 duties listed below:
1. Making recommendations in support of human resources area(s);
2. Managing forms and/or other documents by utilizing human resources coding or processing procedures;
3. Reviewing personnel actions requests for accuracy.
To qualify at the GS-07 level, you must possess:
Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in the Federal service performing (obtained in either the public or private sectors) 2 of the 3 duties listed below:
1. Performing routine human resource technical assignments and/or answering human resources related inquiries;
2. Maintaining human resources references and/or organization files;
3. Identifies and/or resolves human resources related problems.
Typing Proficiency: To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.)
