Assignments may involve new or controversial issues, shaping major programs, or facilitating the resolution of problem areas of vital importance to DCSA.

Duties

This position may be filled at either GG-11 or GG-12 grade level, please indicate the grade for which you want to be considered. Incumbent may be advanced non-competitively to the established target grade upon meeting developmental benchmarks, performance requirements, and other requirements, as applicable established for the career program or specifically for the incumbent. As a INSPECTOR you will be responsible for the following duties: * Perform inspections on critical activities/processes using appropriate inspection and compliance techniques, analyze data to support findings, and develop recommendations to correct deficiencies. * Prepare thorough, accurate, and consistent inspections reports documenting work performed. * Utilize internal investigation case management systems and operations to thoroughly and accurately retain case files to support all findings. * Attend and actively participate in meetings, interviews, planning sessions, and teams involving inspections. * Identify and analyze problems, using sound judgment to generate alternative solutions, and make recommendations. * Work successfully with people of varying backgrounds, levels, and positions to collaborate on inspection related work. * Communicate effectively both orally and in writing * Effectively guide others on how a task/action should be completed; teach and train. * Plan and carry out work independently and accept full responsibility for assigned tasks.

  • This position may entail working occasional overtime or comp time on weekday evenings and/or weekends.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. GG-11: You must have specialized experience sufficient to demonstrate that you have acquired all the competencies necessary to perform at a level equivalent in difficulty, responsibility, and complexity to the next lower grade GS/GG-9 in the Federal service and are prepared to take on greater responsibility. Generally, this would include one year or more of such specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes: advanced experience working within Federal inspections or audit programs, with knowledge of Federal laws, Executive Orders, agency regulations, processes, and procedures; advanced experience conducting inspections on critical activities/processes, focusing on high quality and consistency; advanced experience preparing thorough, accurate, and consistent inspections reports; advanced experience assisting and/or collaborating with teams; advanced experience providing administrative and data support to Supervisory Inspector; advanced experience identifying and analyzing problems, using sound judgment to generate alternative solutions, and making recommendations; OR a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. GG-12: You must have specialized experience sufficient to demonstrate that you have acquired all the competencies necessary to perform at a level equivalent in difficulty, responsibility, and complexity to the next lower grade GS/GG-11 in the Federal service and are prepared to take on greater responsibility. Generally, this would include one year or more of such specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes: expert experience working within Federal inspections or audit programs, with knowledge of Federal laws, Executive Orders, agency regulations, processes, and procedures; expert experience conducting inspections on critical activities/processes, focusing on high quality and consistency; expert experience preparing thorough, accurate, and consistent inspections reports; expert experience assisting and/or collaborating with teams; expert experience providing administrative and data support to Supervisory Inspector; expert experience analyzing operational situations, using sound judgment to generate alternative solutions, and making recommendations; in-depth knowledge of Federal processes and procedures of acquisition and contract management; expert experience documenting all inspections for all contracts thoroughly and accurately. Writing: Recognizes or uses correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; communicates information (for example, facts, ideas, or messages) in a succinct and organized manner; produces written information, which may include technical material that is appropriate for the intended audience.

Education

If substituting education for experience at the GG-11 level, you must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher graduate education leading to such a degree.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience at the GG-12 level.

Superior Academic Achievement does not apply to DCIPS positions.

If substituting education for experience, transcripts MUST be provided. Failure to provide transcripts will result in you being rated ineligible for this position.
