Duties

Serving as a Inventory Management Specialist GS-2010-9 makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) team and mission. This position is located within the Assets and Logistics Branch (ALB), Assets and Logistics Management Division (ALM), within the Mission and Readiness Support Directorate (MRSD). The primary purpose of this position is to assist higher-graded Inventory Management Specialists in the planning, educating, coordination, and management of the FLETC Inventory Management Program Typical duties include: Maintaining and updating the FLETC inventory of accountable personal property, including mobile assets, captured in the DHS digital system of record, currently the Sunflower Asset and Management System (SAMS).

You may qualify at the GS-09 if you meet one of the following: You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing inventory management services controlling the inventory of supplies, equipment or other materials by entering and updating pertinent data covering the acquisition, depreciation, location, and disposal of property. Tracking the movement of the non-expendable, accountable, personal property through its lifecycle from the date of acquisition to the date of disposal and ensuring asset accountability. Assists in writing guidance, procedures, directives, handbooks, bulletins, and other related communications pertaining to property management issues. -OR- Successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., from an accredited college or university that is related to the work of the position being filled. You must provide a copy of your transcripts. -OR- Have an equivalent combination of graduate level education and specialized experience as describe in the previous responses. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours will be combined with the specialized experience. Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement. However, during periods of time that the employee is required to assist in the taking of physical inventories and during training sessions, position may be subjected to long periods of standing, stooping, bending, and lifting of property items that may exceed 50 lbs. Position must use various types of material handling equipment, including forklifts. Work Environment: The work of the position is generally performed indoors but may be performed outdoors with varying degrees of climate conditions. May be exposed to cuts, scrapes, bruises, and muscle strains while conducting physical inventories. Travel to other installations may be required in the performance of duties associated with this position. Background Investigation: To ensure the accomplishment of our mission, FLETC requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy.
