Duties

Duties include: Receiving and reviewing requisition documents to ensure they are authorized in accordance with regulations; Resolving routing problems with obligations and commitments; Processing incoming bills for payment by verifying the validity of invoices; Resolving routine problems with disputed bills or payments in question; Coding invoices with the proper accounting information; Serving as principal or alternate vendor payment submitter; Generating and analyzing routine automated financial reports; Providing office automation support to the Budget Office staff; and Participating in the review of open obligations, and ensuring that they are valid and supported. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Requirements

  • You must be a United States Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications

GS-6: To be eligible at the GS-6 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level. Specialized experience: Defined as experience possessing knowledge of the phases of the budget process and ability to perform budget administration. Specialized experience is: applying basic financial function support by compiling and tracking resource data from financial reports; preparing various financial plans, documents, and reports in accordance with established procedures; and providing statistical and narrative updates for members of senior staff. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy.
