About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the Joint Interagency Task Force South, C41 Systems Directorate, U.S. Southern Command, Key West, FL. 33040 J6.

Duties

Serves as an IT Specialist (SYSANALYSIS) within the Directorate of Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C41) Systems, Joint Interagency Task Force South (JIATFS), Truman Annex, Key West, FL. Conducts information assurance activities on information systems such as application of security patches. Provides technical expertise on system operations, hardware, and a wide variety of applications and programs. Performs system administration duties on a large network of computers with wide area network access. Installs application software for maintenance of system configuration files.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • May require Temporary Duty (TDY) travel up to 10% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. Specialized and Other Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience with 1) identifying information technology security risks and vulnerabilities to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks and/or data; 2) applying standards, policies, and/or security procedures to information systems with risk assessment testing and preparing reports of documented findings; 3) installing application software for systems maintenance; and 4) performing system administration duties with a wide range of network access. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS/GG-11). The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined: (1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. (2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. (3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. (4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
