About the Position: This position serves as editor for the JBLM News web site located in the Public Affairs Office at US Army Installation Management Command at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Duties

Serve as editor for the JBLM News web site. Monitor JBLM News and other JBLM social media to prevent violations of security or regulations, and to ensure JBLM stories reflect command policy. Maintain calendar of events, ceremonies and correlates news coverage with appropriate information offices and sources. Take and review photographs for required cropping, reformatting and arrangement to best represent narrative material and generate reader interest.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Photojournalist for a News publication; researching and writing editorials, news releases, and feature stories; interviewing public officials and other individuals to gain firsthand information; and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all media, both foreign and domestic, and internal staff and external news contacts. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Public Affairs Administration, Public Management and Leadership, Ethics and Social Justice in Public Affairs, Legal Issues in Public Affairs, Research Methods for Public Affairs, or Media Communications or Journalism. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communications and MediaManages and Organizes InformationMultimedia TechnologiesWriting Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-???????09).
