About the Position: Serves as a Human Resources Assistant (Military) for the USAG Presidio of Monterey Directorate of Human Resources Personnel Division (MPD).

Duties

Review records and documents to develop facts and issues; research and provide explanations regarding rules, procedures, and requirements to military employees. Monitor promotion transactions in IPPS-A to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness; and identify discrepancies in selectee records. Make initial determinations on soldiers’ eligibility for retirement and completion of active-duty service commitments. Provide guidance and assist on In and Out-Processing transactions relating to military personnel records/personnel actions/documents related to in-processing and out- processing of officer and enlisted soldiers.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a driver's license (necessary for operation of a government vehicle).

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing military personnel support functions such as reviewing and monitoring personnel records and actions; processing personnel actions and issuing identification documents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalMilitaryOral CommunicationPersonnel Action Processing and Recordkeeping Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade, time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
