This position is located with the Fryer Fitness Center on Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

Duties
Oversees the inventory of property; fitness equipment condition; tracks maintenance and repair or replacement as appropriate.
Assists in the development of budgetary and manpower requirements and recommends adjustments due to changes in program demands or hours of operation.
Oversees facility cleanliness contracts and standard operating procedures.
Assists with the scheduling and outreach of organizational units at the facility to include intramural sports (plans, develops, coordinates, organizes, schedules, publicizes, directs, etc).
Assist in the publicizing sports facilities, programs and events by drafting articles for local newspapers and as instructed by supervisor coordinates with marketing for posters, flyers and other promotional material.
Requirements

- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, Chapter 2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation as well as State Criminal History Repository checks.
- Must complete the following course(s)/class: MWR Orientation Course, Customer Service, and Equipment (Safe Operation and Basic Maintenance Repair).
- Possesses and maintains the following certifications: CPR, First Aid, and AED.
Qualifications
Possesses directly related work experience in planning, supervising, administering or carrying out a sports program that included a variety of individual and team sports and guiding participants in developing the skills needed for participation in sports activities and teaching the techniques of various sports.
Experience that includes the demonstrated ability to manage and operate complex multiple fitness facilities.
The related work experience must have been equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level.
Highly Preferred: Candidates that possess highly preferred criteria and meet the minimum qualifications above will be referred to the hiring manager first. Criteria is verified within the application package.
Possess 2 years experience working for FMWR
Possess 1 year experience supervising a sports/fitness program
Experience working in an ice rink
Experience in fitness equipment procurement and life cycle replacement
Experience with an annual operating budget,
Experience scheduling personnel
Possess a combination of education (an undergraduate in related fields such as physical education or kinesiology) and work experience as identified above
Possession of a nationally identified Basic Fitness Trainer Certification
