This position is located in the Defense Innovation Unit. The Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) is focused exclusively on accelerating the adoption of commercial technology to transform military capability and capacity, while growing the national security innovation base.
Duties
Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following:
The incumbent will assist with the following functions: Network Enterprise Design, Information Assurance, Cybersecurity Defense, Business Processing, and Re-engineering for DIU in compliance with all applicable DoD policies/requirements.
The Incumbent will coordinate the daily operations of customer service and technical support, data administration, knowledge management, network services, Cloud (SaaS/PaaS/IaaS) administration, systems administration, vulnerability analysis, and system analysis, and the technical supervision of the staff.
The incumbent will also support Authority to Operate (ATO) certification process related to DIU activities.
Incumbent performs business case analyses to determine a return on investments utilizing investment strategies and business process re-engineering techniques as it applies to information technology systems.
The incumbent makes recommendations on the information systems projects or programs to be initiated, dropped, or curtailed; determines the optimum mix of reduced operating costs and assurance of program effectiveness, including introducing labor-saving devices, automated processes, improvement methods, and similar actions.

- This position requires you to submit a Financial Disclosure upon appointment.
- Travel is required 25% of the time for this position.
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification is required.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. Basic Requirements:
Basic Requirement: Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating the following competencies appropriate to, or above, the level of this position. For vacancies below the full-performance level of the position, the basic requirement will be evaluated on a developmental basis. Attention to Detail- experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been responsible for reviewing the work of others to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
Customer Service- developing and maintaining relationships with customers, anticipating and assessing the current and future information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products or services that are tailored to meet customer needs.
Oral Communication- briefing senior-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
Problem Solving- identifying alternatives to address unique, highly complex, or sensitive information technology-related issues. I have anticipated information technology-related problems and have identified and evaluated potential sources of information to generate alternative solutions.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement, qualified applicants must possess:
Time in Grade: For entry at the NH-04 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a NH-03 or higher grade in the Federal Service.
For the NH-04 you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the NH-03 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to NH-03 if outside the Federal service.
Specialized Experience: is defined as experience with network design, operations and architectural improvements as well as contract management and IT-related experience, leads IT service teams, assisting in developing, planning, coordinating, and implementing policies within the Cyber Security framework to ensure the operation, maintenance, and security networks and associated equipment.
In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position. Education
There is no substitution of education for the qualifying experience at the NH-04 grade level.
To be creditable, education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. You must report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions that are recognized by the
U.S. Department of Education .
