THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a SHEET METAL MECHANIC (AIRCRAFT) (SMALL SHOP CHIEF) (Title 32), Position Description Number D1073000 and is part of the AR ARNG AASF, National Guard.
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQURED
Duties
-- Plans and lays out work to be accomplished in the shop, which is then completed, by the incumbent and lower graded mechanic(s). Determines approaches, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner. Independently determines appropriate maintenance procedures. Estimates time, equipment and material requirements. Devises and maintains plans and records. Provides recommendations and input to the supervisor concerning personnel actions such as performance appraisals, awards, position description changes, disciplinary actions, and leave.
-- Performs the full range of shop work.
-- Perform in-process, final inspection, and clear status symbols certifying work performed by others in shop.
-- Implements safety regulatory requirements. Ensures that other workers in the shop wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions.
-- Prepares for, and participates in, various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Perform additional duties such as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operation, maintenance of facilities and equipment. Serves as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies.

Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the ability to plan, manufacture, and install cylindrical, square, or rectangular-shaped objects that have easily constructed fastenings such as single and double-hem edges and single, double or grooved seams.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Experience or training in planning, layout, and construction skills to manufacture items and systems with dovetailed seams, set-in-bottom seams, burred-bottom seams, or wired or lock seams. Experience using more complicated shop tools and equipment. Experience in using metals including stainless steel, copper sheet, magnesium, honeycomb material and alloys. Experience demonstrating the use of more complicated mathematical calculations and complicated measuring instruments.
