You will serve as an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN), in the INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY & CYBER SECURITY DEPARTMENT, Code 109 of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will analyze systems requirements in response to business requirements, risks, and costs. You will install, configure and maintain Windows operating systems components. You will monitor and fine-tune performance of the Windows system and storage environment. You will consult with customers to identify and specify requirements. You will prepare and present briefings to senior management official on complex Information Technology issues. You will validate documentation with non-technical personnel and make adjustments as required.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area System Administrator within 12 months of appointment.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

  • This is a Cyber Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain qualifications in accordance with DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Management Program, February 15, 2023.
  • You will support Department of Navy policies for specialty area System Administration, proficiency level Intermediate within 9 months of appointment.
  • You may required to lift items up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Implementing the integration of Windows systems components for the development, testing, or upgrade of existing or new systems configurations. Examples of qualifying experiences may include: Monitoring and fine-tuning performance of Windows systems components and storage environment; reviewing server loads and recommending server load balancing; and implementing Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), policies, and preventive maintenance schedules. Your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Monitor and evaluate systems for IA technical compliance and overarching security requirements and research data to support development of new methods and procedures to accomplish mission. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Maintain and administer the video teleconferencing systems and continually improve efficiency for customers. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Skills to communicate effectively, both oral and written to prepare and present briefs, presentations, factual reports to high-level management personnel. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: isolating and defining unprecedented conditions and resolving critical problems in time critical conditions supporting NECC deployed forces worldwide.
