This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Salary Listed is Rest of US Locality Pay. Total salary (including locality) will be determined at the time of selection.

Duties

Perform supervisory and administrative duties relating to the police force. Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust priorities and prepares schedules. Assign work to subordinates and give advice or instructions to the employees. Set employee standards for performance and prepare performance evaluations. Conduct job interviews and make recommendations for promotions, reassignments and new hires. Respond to and investigate emergency calls and complaints. Exercise search and apprehension authority, interview witnesses, collect and preserve evidence and conduct investigations on criminal cases. Conduct traffic law enforcement patrols and issue citations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • One year probationary period may be required.
  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Incumbent must meet the requirements of AR 190-56 to include the requirement to wear a uniform and/or maintain a high state of uniform appearance and personal hygiene.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter.
  • This position requires the incumbent to pass a pre-appointment and subsequent periodic medical/psychiatric evaluations to determine their ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • This position requires the incumbent to perform and pass semi-annual qualification testing with firearms (pistol, rifle, shotgun, etc), and observe applicable safety precautions.
  • This position requires the Incumbent to obtain and maintain certifications for Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) /first aid techniques.
  • This position requires the incumbent to pass an annual Physical Ability Test (PAT) and perform the essential functions of the position to standards published in Army Regulation (AR) 190-56.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a valid state Motor Vehicle License and obtain and maintain local government driver's license
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time
  • This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete a Police Officer Field Training Program within one year of employment to this position.
  • This position requires the incumbent to meet individual reliability and suitability standards prescribed by the Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program (Army Regulation (AR) 190-56 and AR 380-67).
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) directing or leading law enforcement work to include enforcing traffic laws, issuing traffic tickets, and questioning or apprehending violators of federal or local laws and (2) executing investigative techniques to assist with criminal investigations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
