Salary: $25 - 33 per hour

You will serve as a ELECTRONIC INDUSTRIAL CONTROLS HELPER in the Navy Foundry & Propeller Center (1400), Production Division (1440), Maintenance Section (1440.3) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will work with higher grade mechanics under the supervision of the Supervisor I, who assigns and periodically inspects work in progress. You will work in coordination with Production Machinery Mechanics. You will troubleshoot, repair and adjust CNC machine tools and industrial plant equipment. You will troubleshoot repair, align, and inspect five through nine axis CNC machine tool multi-system complexes consisting of several complete integrated systems. You will perform preventative maintenance on equipment.

  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • Incumbent frequently lifts and carries up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasional climbing and working in high places may be required.
  • This position has a KPP to WG-08.

Qualifications

Performing basic electrical maintenance tasks using hand and power tools, with some knowledge of electronics and safety protocols. Using tools of the trade including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and laptop computers. Assisting journey level Electronic Industrial Controls Mechanics by carrying tools, equipment and materials.
