This position is for an Electronics Ordnance Disposal Technician, Position Description Number D0720000 located in 116th MXG, Robins AFB, GA. This is a full-time, Excepted, dual status position which requires Georgia Air National Guard Membership. Area of Consideration: Current Onboard members of the 116 MXG Georgia Air National Guard.

Duties

As an Electronics Mechanic Supervisor, WS-2604-14, you will: Plan the overall allocation of personnel and other resources to the organizational segments supervised to accomplish work operations which, because of their scope, volume, and complexity, must be planned on a yearly or longer basis. Analyze the work plans developed by subordinate supervisors for accomplishment of assigned work orders and projects and the status of work being accomplished in relation to overall schedule requirements, including unanticipated or emergency requirements. Provide higher level managers and/or supervisors information on status of work projects, budget estimates, changes in equipment, facilities, techniques, etc. Participate fully with higher level management officials and staff organizations in studying and developing recommendations concerning changes in specification requirements, work techniques and standards; revisions of organizational structures, responsibilities, and relationships; and improvement or modernization of equipment, facility layout, and work flow. Participate in planning conferences and meetings. Explain work requirements to subordinate levels of supervision, sets deadlines and sequence of operations. Coordinate and direct the work of units supervised. Balance work load for subordinate work groups. Analyze production, cost and personnel utilization records and make adjustment in operations to correct problems. Develop quality and quantity standards. Spot checks work operations to assure production and quality standards are met. Encourage employees to achieve goals. Recommend promotion or reassignment of subordinate supervisors and reviews personnel actions prepared by them. Make formal appraisal of supervisors' work performance and reviews employee appraisals submitted by them. Determine long-range training needs for all levels of subordinates, submit funding and budget requests with justification for approval, and arranges for the accomplishment of the training. Promote and administer such programs as cost reduction, incentive awards, suggestions, and quality assurance. Ensure that regulations governing safety and housekeeping are observed with appropriate protective clothing and equipment being utilized. Assure that subordinate supervisors carry out such programs as labor-management and equal opportunity. Schedule and approve leave. Ensure that position descriptions are accurate and that position management principles are followed. Develop and establish the internal procedures to be followed by subordinate supervisors to assure effective control and direction of the work activities, organizations, and personnel supervised. Assure that appropriate production reports and administrative records are maintained. Act on personnel problems referred by subordinate supervisors. Hear and resolve grievances and ensure proper corrective action is taken. Implement regulatory safety requirements and ensures that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. Prepare for and participate in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. May be required to perform such additional duties as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operation, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or to serve as a team member on boards to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state drivers license.
  • Preplacement Medical Requirements: Selectee will be required to undergo medical testing, at the expense of the government, prior to beginning employment. Medical tests are used to determine fitness and eligibility for employment.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

Qualifications

Specialized Experience: In addition to the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. Physical Effort: Work assignments require light to moderate physical effort. Employees frequently lift, carry, or otherwise handle items weighing up to 40 pounds. Occasionally, they handle items greater than 40 pounds. Assistance is usually available with heavy items. They work in a sitting position for extended periods. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching and stooping is required. Occasionally, climbing and work in high places is required. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside in well lighted, heated, and ventilated areas or in aircraft in high or restricted places, under conditions of heat or cold, and occasionally outside in inclement weather. Employees are subject to injuries such as electric shock, cuts and bruises, as well as burns caused by electrical or RF energy, or soldering irons. Works in high noise environment.

Education

Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed.
