This position is located in the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Wage and Hour Division (WHD), Office of Regional Enforcement and Support, District Offices. This position performs the full range of WHD investigative activities, including investigations to enforce provision of all other statues enforced by WHD.
One position will be filled in either New Orleans, LA or Baton Rouge, LA.
This position is inside the NCFLL Bargaining Unit.
Duties
As a Wage and Hour Investigator you will perform the following duties which are not all-inclusive:
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Requires a probationary period if the requirement has not been met.
- Candidate required to obtain the necessary security/investigation level.
Qualifications
Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-12 in the Federal Service.
A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must clearly indicate the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such position.
Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. For this position specialized experience is defined as experience applying laws, regulations, guidelines, procedures, and precedents enforced and administered by the Wage and Hour Division.
Examples of specialized experience for this position are:
Experience leading a team involving potential civil and/or criminal litigation;
Experience working as a project lead that involves cross regional and/or cross district jurisdiction; and,
Experience developing comprehensive reports which include financial data for presentation to agency leadership and/or other stakeholders.
There is no substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level.
