You will serve as a Scientist in the Special Projects Branch of the Expeditionary C3I & Cyber Division of the Special Warfare & Expeditionary Systems Department of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER. This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project. The ND-05 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-14 and GS-15.

Duties

You will report to Special Operations Forces Acquisition Technology and Logistics (SOF ATL) / Special Operations Command (SOCOM) / PEO SOF Digital Applications (SDA) as a NSWC Crane (JXY) employee. You will provide technical direction, best practices, and rigor to PEO SDA within SOCOM in all aspects related to cyber. You will lead technical discussions and make technical decisions on behalf of the program. You will work with numerous stakeholders across multiple PEOs to provide critical cyber support to SOCOM. You will engage with high-ranking officials and senior level leaders, to include SESs, Generals, etc. You will have administrative control (ADCON) with the Expeditionary C3I and Cyber Division (Special Projects Branch – JXYW).

  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code 722, proficiency level Advanced the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-04 (GS-12/13) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional scientist providing technical direction on Special Operations Forces programs to provide support and recommend corrective measures for ensuring compliance to information assurance policies and regulations. Successful completion of a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science.
OR
Successful completion of a bachelor's or higher degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of my 30 semester hours were in a combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
