About the Position: This is a Land Surveyor GS-1373-09 or GS-11 position for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Southwestern Division, Little Rock District, Little Rock, Arkansas. Management may hire at either grade level of GS-09 or GS-11. Promotion to the full performance grade level will be at the discretion of the hiring manager.

Duties

Serve as field leader performing survey work. Use of Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment and computational techniques of GPS data. Transfer of data manually or by electronic data collector to the Intergraph CADD system and the subsequent development of CADD drawings. Prepare the Government estimates of cost and composes the official written request to the contractor for a fee proposal. Serve as the Alternate Contracting Officers Representative for Architect-Engineer and Service contracts administered by the Survey and Data Section.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent of this position is required to file a confidential statement of employment and financial interest (DD Form 450) on a yearly basis.
  • You will be required to possess a Professional Land Surveyor's license a the full performance GS-11 grade level.

Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Basic Education Requirement: Degree: land surveying; or civil engineering with a surveying option/emphasis. The civil engineering major must have included at least 6 semester hours of surveying, 3 semester hours of land law, and 21 additional semester hours in any combination of the following: surveying, photogrammetry, geodetic surveying, geodesy, route surveying, remote sensing, cartography, survey astronomy, land information systems, computer-aided mapping, aerial photo interpretation, and survey analysis and adjustments. or Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in land surveying or civil engineering as described in paragraph A, plus appropriate experience or additional education. or The basic requirements for this series may be fully satisfied by a current registration as a land surveyor in a State, territory, or the District of Columbia obtained by written examination. Such registration must have been obtained under conditions outlined in the National Council of Engineering Examiners (NCEE) Unified Model Law for Registration of Surveyors. Applicants wishing to be considered under this provision must show evidence of registration based on successful completion of the written examinations. Registrations granted prior to adoption of a registration law with qualification requirements equivalent to the NCEE Model Law by the State, territory, or District of Columbia are not acceptable under this option. To be considered equivalent to the NCEE Model law, registration laws must include the four options listed within the NCEE Unified Model Law in the section specifying "General Requirements for Registration" as a Professional Land Surveyor. Specialized Experience GS-09 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes : 1) Gathering land surveys information for various projects. OR 2). Entering information into the Geographic Information System (GIS) OR 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree OR Combination of education and experience. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Reviewing land survey data for projects AND 2) Processing land survey data to measure geospatial information. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: 3 years of progressively higher, level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Information Technology ApplicationSurveyingWritten Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
