Duties
If selected at the GS-09, the below responsibilities will be performed in a developmental capacity:
Serves as a Supervisory Transportation Assistant with responsibility for planning and directing the activities of employees engaged in performing a wide variety of transportation duties.
Ships a wide variety of freight by commercial or Government means to CONUS and OCONUS destinations.
Conducts continuing reviews and assessments of assigned operational area.
Evaluates the effectiveness of work operations, interpreting workload data to identify problem areas.
Reviews operating performance data relative to established goals.
Plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short term priorities, and schedules completion of work.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Supervisory Transportation Assistant, your qualifications must include:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and Is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-09 level, applicants must have one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 level. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes but is not limited to:
Planning and directing activities of employees engaged ln performing a wide variety of transportation duties
Interpreting workload data to Identify problem areas;
Treating a variety of problems in transportation transactions involving expedited, urgently needed items or material.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
