This position is located at Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, ENFORCEMENT. The incumbent serves as a subject matter expert regarding identifying and contacting consumers, former employees of companies under investigation, and other potential witnesses who may have information relevant to investigations and litigations conducted by Enforcement.

Duties

As an Investigator (Consumer Outreach), you will: Serve as a subject matter expert regarding identifying and contacting consumers, former employees of companies under investigation, and other potential witnesses who may have information relevant to investigations and litigations conducted by Enforcement. These duties include developing new or revised methods of conducting outreach to consumers and other potential third-party witnesses. Engage in outreach to consumers and other potential witnesses and conducts interviews of such individuals to obtain information relevant to investigations and enforcement actions, including information relevant to determining whether a violation of Federal consumer financial law has occurred and the nature and extent of such violations. Prepare and maintain accurate and detailed records of outreach efforts and notes of witness interviews. Collect, compile, and analyze documents or other tangible evidence obtained from consumers and other potential witnesses and preserves their chain of custody. Analyze a wide variety of documents obtained from potential witnesses to determine whether they contain evidence that may support or contradict claims for violations of Federal consumer financial law.

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience: For the CN-53, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the CN-52 grade level in the Federal service. (For qualification purposes, the CN-52 is broadly equivalent to the GS-12). Specialized Experience for this position includes: - Conducting outreach to consumers and other third-party witnesses; AND - Compiling, analyzing, and assessing data to identify and summarize trends; AND - Preparing summaries and recommendations regarding investigative findings and presenting to investigators and attorneys; AND - Conducting research to obtain facts relative to ongoing investigations and actions.
