This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. The incumbent serves as a Lead Archives Specialist in the National Declassification Center. The Center is responsible for the review, referral, and declassification of classified records (both textual and non-textual) 25 years old and older and accessioned to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) as well as the processing, review and release of all classified records requested.

Duties

As a LEAD ARCHIVES SPECIALIST, you will: Explain team goals and objectives and assist team in organizing to accomplish work. Provide independent guidance responding to on-site researchers, web-based requesters, and other National Archives programs regarding strategies for perfecting access demand requests, such as FOIA, MDR, special review or indexing on demand requests for classified records. Coordinate records for which NARA does not have declassification authority with appropriate Federal agencies. Enter and update information in databases for the proper tracking, declassification review and handling of requests.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience: For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience with archival work including access review, processing, preservation and/or reference; AND Communicating assignments and deadlines to a team and/or individuals; AND Analyzing and evaluating records to make determinations based on regulations and/or guidelines. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11level for 52 weeks.
