This position is located at Emergency and Security Programs Division, Security Programs Branch. As a Security Specialist, you will oversee the Administrative Investigation, Information Security (INFOSEC), and Communication Security (COMSEC) programs.
Duties
As a Security Specialist, you will:
Be responsible for devising, developing, implementing, and executing the Information Security Program which is designed to safeguard the classified and sensitive information, property, facilities, personnel, and other resources of the organization from unauthorized access, misuse, theft, vandalism, sabotage, or loss.
Create comprehensive reports of investigation detailing the investigation and evidence collected and represented to support conclusions provided to senior management for review.
Independently plan, organize, and conduct referral investigations-Coordinating and cooperating with other Federal, state and local investigative and law enforcement agencies and offices to facilitate investigations and avoid duplication of Bureau investigative efforts.
Provide technical expertise and specialized security assignments for all aspects of the INFOSEC program which includes the proper handling, safeguarding, controlling, transmission, transferring, reproducing, storing, downgrading, and destroying of classified and sensitive information.
Serve as the technical expert for the installation, issuance, protection and security of all communications security equipment (COMSEC) assigned to the organization. Programs and troubleshoots cryptographic equipment located at Headquarters and Regional Financial Centers.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes performing security work that involves:
- Overseeing the Administrative Investigation, Information Security (INFOSEC), and Communication Security (COMSEC) programs; AND
- Performing administrative investigations; AND
- Ensuring oversight, safeguarding, handling, and storage of this classified information in secured facilities.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks.
