About the Position: Protection Branch Chief and Supervisory Security Specialist within the Protection Division (PD),Operations & Readiness Directorate,G3,Headquarters, Army Materiel Command (AMC).

Duties

Develop, implement, and manage Protection elements: Antiterrorism/Force Protection, Operations Security, Insider Threat, Counter Small Unmanned Aerial Systems, Emergency Management and Continuity of Operations. Leverage resources to provide full range of synchronized protection services to personnel. Supervise a staff of security specialists, emergency management specialist, and assistants. Prepare performance evaluations and develop performance standards.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent identified as KEY EMPLOYEE; an incumbent of a CONUS position that cannot be vacated during war or national emergency without seriously impairing the mission.
  • Such employees have unique or scarce managerial or technical skills required by the wartime mission.
  • TDY may be required occasionally.
  • Incumbent required to obtain and maintain a Tier 5, SCI Clearance.
  • Incumbent required to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, and annually thereafter.
  • This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program. This is the Department of Defense (DoD) Security Certification Program directed by DoD Instruction 3305.13.
  • It is approved by the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Manpower and Reserve Affairs for use in the Army via the following memorandum: Memorandum, Assistant Secretary of Army for Manpower and Reserve Affairs, dated 8 September 2015, subject:
  • Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program.
  • The SPeD certification is DoD's initiative to professionalize the security workforce by establishing a common set of competencies for security practitioners
  • that promotes interoperability, facilitates professional development and training, and develops a workforce of certified security professionals.
  • This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) and the Antiterrorism Credential (ATC) within their first two years of employment.
  • TDY Travel may occasionally be required.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Managing Human ResourcesPlanning and EvaluatingSecurity Program ManagementTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
