Duties

Lead the World Language/English as a Secondary Language (ESOL) Educational program for the school district Facilitate World Language/English as a Secondary Language (ESOL) curriculum development for the school district Facilitate alignment of content/instruction with assessments that measure performance in World Language/English as a Secondary Language (ESOL) Mentor educators in methods of (ESOL) instruction and assessment Perform duties of a Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for curriculum development contracts

Requirements

  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
  • One year trial period may be required.
  • Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
  • This position requires a Tier 3 investigation with Childcare Checks since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret security clearance.
  • You may be required to sign a transportation agreement.
  • You will be required to sign a mobility agreement, be available for worldwide placement, and be willing to rotate to any DoDDS or DDESS location

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Minimum Education Requirement: A Master's degree in the field of Education. The course work must have been completed at or accepted by a regionally accredited U.S. college or university. Specialized Experience Requirement (5 years): Specialized experience is experience gained in teaching, educational research, development of educational materials and aids, educational testing, educational administration, or comparable activities in an elementary and/or secondary school which bas clearly demonstrated success in the application of principles, methods, and techniques of education and familiarity with current developments in PreK-12th grade education and training. This experience must have been in World Languages and/or ESOL. Professional Licensure/Certification Requirement: pplicants must be currently certified or certifiable under the current DoDEA standards as a Teacher, K-12 Foreign Language (categories 0370, 0371, 0372, 0373, 0374, 0375, 0376, 0377, or Teacher, English for Speakers of Other Languages (categories 0436, 0437 or 0438). Certification in both a Foreign Language and ESL is desirable. Preferred consideration given to applicants that have completed coursework in the following content areas: Learning theory, psychology of/earning, educational psychology: Study of learning theories as they relate to the systematic design, development, and validation of instructional material. Instructional design practices: Study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, and applying design methods to the improvement of instructional effectiveness. Educational evaluation: Study of the techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional educational programs, including developing written and performance tests and survey instruments, and determining reliability and validity of evaluation instruments. Instructional product development: Study of the techniques appropriate for developing training materials, including identifying learner characteristics, specifying objectives, applying training strategy, validating training materials, and evaluating training. Computers in education and training: Study of the application of computers in education and training. Education

Foreign Degrees and Course Work from Non-accredited Institutions: Credits or degrees earned from a foreign college or university must be evaluated prior to acceptance. Three evaluation procedures are acceptable:

1. The work may be evaluated and interpreted by the International Education Research Foundation, Inc., Credential Evaluation Service, Post Office Box 3665, Culver City, CA 90231-3665 or www.ierf.org/ or 310-258-9451.

2. The foreign institution that awarded the degree is on a list endorsed by a regionally accredited university or on a list endorsed by a state department of education for the purpose of teacher certification in that state (this procedure will require an English translation of the transcript and a copy of the document awarding the degree, together with an authenticated list produced by an American university or a state department of education); and3. The work may be evaluated by the graduate division of a regionally accredited university and declared the equivalent of similar undergraduate or graduate work in a U.S. institution.

Graduates of non-accredited institutions may have their undergraduate work validated by admittance to graduate school and completion of a minimum of 5 SH of credit in a regionally accredited graduate college.
