Duties
The VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin is a tertiary care facility affiliated with the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). We are seeking a Junior level, Board Certified/Board Eligible Neurologist for full time employment between both locations (3.5/8ths at the VA and 4.5/8ths at MCW). Candidates must have expertise in evaluating and managing patients with cerebrovascular disease based on fellowship training in this field. The successful candidate must also be able to manage patients in the broad category of General Neurology. A long-term commitment of at least 3 years is required and the candidate is preferred to qualify for an academic appointment with the Neurology Department of MCW. Froedtert Hospital, the clinical affiliate of MCW, is a certified Comprehensive Stroke Center ranking in the top five in the nation on a recent survey. Both institutions are actively involved in the instruction of medical students, residents and fellows. The preferred candidate will have a history of involvement in teaching and curriculum development, and continue such activities while employed at VA.
Work Schedule: Part Time; Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Requirements

Qualifications
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Experience:
Board certification in Neurology and fellowship training in Cerebrovascular Diseases with subsequent certification in Vascular Neurology.
Eligible for academic appointment in the Department of Neurology of the Medical College of Wisconsin.

Physical Requirements: Walking, bending, stooping, and some lifting in the direct care of patients. There may also be extended periods of sitting.
