You will serve as a Crane Operator in the Rigging and Equipment Operations Division, Code 740 of the Lifting and Handling Department, Code 700 of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will operate cranes at all boom lengths, angles and positions during continual location changes. You will interpret crane capacity charts and be familiar with and have a working understanding of computer LMI’s (Load Movement Indicator). You will simultaneously operate the cranes controls while producing exact movements while setting loads onto or into tight locations. You will work in areas outside of their line of vision and accurately operate with direction from hand signals or high power radios. You will utilize your knowledge of various types and sizes of diesel engines, electric and hydraulic controls, cable drums and brake systems, function of outriggers on mobile cranes, and proper mooring and anchoring for floating cranes. You will be responsible to consider the safest movement of the load, clearances along the route, position changes needed to complete the move and the effects of these changes on the cranes lifting capacities. You will closely observe operating techniques, safety factors, and comprehend the characteristics of weight lifting equipment.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• Work requires considerable climbing, reaching, pulling, pushing, bending and sitting are required.
